Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 – Five of 8ight

A few years ago I figured that if I upgraded my Pentax istDS to a Nikon D200 and obtained some decent lenses that if my pictures were crap then it’s my fault.  My thinking is flawed I know, as I’m well aware that the “Greats” of photography can take masterpieces using anything. A roll of film in a shoebox even!

Anyway after a few months I got rid of the Sigma kit lens that the D200 came with and replaced it with the Nikon 17-55mm f2.8 (It’s hardly ever off my camera) Next I purchased the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR lens. It’s built like a tank and in the two years since purchase I haven’t used it as much as I should, especially taking into consideration the fact that it cost an arm and a leg.

To be honest it took some getting used to as did the upgrade from the Pentax and I was disappointed with the results. It is a bit of a steep learning curve but the hard work is beginning to pay off.

My Blurb book – Six of 8ight

Sun arise, she bring in the morning.

Sun arise, bring in the morning, fluttering her skirts all around.

Sun arise, she come with the dawning.

Sun arise, come with the dawning, spreading all the light all around.

Sun arise, on the kangaroo paw.

Sun arise, on the kangaroo paw, glistening the dew all around.

Sun arise, filling all the hollows,

Sun arise, filling all the hollows, lighting up the hills all around.

Sun arise, come with the dawning,

Sun arise, she come every day.

Sun arise, bring in the morning,

Sun arise, every, every, every, every, day.

She drive away the darkness, every day,

Drive away the darkness,

Bringing back the warmth to the ground.

Sun arise, oh, oh,

Sun arise, oh, oh,

Spreading all the light all around.

Sun arise, bring in the morning.

Sun arise, bring in the morning, spreading all the light all around.

Onyerbikemate – Four of 8ight

We had a bit of rain in the night so there were a few puddles to plough through on my ride out to the airstrip this morning. In reflection it was a pleasant morning. Blue skies, a little cloud with the sun already well up behind the Gum trees.

The Big Wet  – Two of 8ight

Far North Tropical Queensland, the middle of the wet season.
Next time you nip in the car to drive 20 metres to your nearest Tesco spare a thought for the residents of towns cut off by the rising water levels. The shelves are running low and food is having to be air lifted in.
Actualy, no bugger them! Sling a 6 pack of Boddies in your basket and a frozen pizza and whilst you are at it I’ll have a carton of Fosters.

Third World country winge, moan winge. The bloody Septic tank has overflowed again and so I can’t use any water to wash up or shower.
As a whinging Pom some of you may say that we don’t shower anyway?
The wonderful experiences and joys of living in the outback and to think I could be sitting in traffic on the Sydney Harbour Bridge for two hours listening to talkback radio. Yes the Outback definitely has it’s advantages.
