Early days of Digital  – Seven of 8ight

The punultimate photo in the early days of digital series.
Today’s image is the state emblem for South Australia,

‘The Sturt Desert Pea’

Yes, yes I know the leaves are usually green but with the aid of a Lightroom preset all I can see is red.

Early days of Digital  – Four of 8ight

A series of eight images taken with the Olympus C3000Z my first digital camera. A far cry from the newly announced Olympus EP1 must have. Or is it?

When attending the movies in the outback, dust can play play havoc with your popcorn but at least you don’t have to put up with noisy patrons and mobile phones!!

Early days of Digital  – Two of 8ight

Dog Fence at Cameron corner in NSW or is that QLD maybe it was SA?
The second image in this weeks series of 8ight images taken with my very first digital camera the Olympus C3000Z.

A 3.3megapixel camera that cost nearly $2000 in the year 2000.
My image of the Dog Fence  was featured full page in the Overlander 4WD magazine. I was paid the pricely sum of nothing but was given a free head torch for my trouble! I apologise to all you pro’s out there trying to make a living and promise not to submit any more images unless paid at least a $1000!!

My Blurb book – One of 8ight

Not wishing to crow or anything but I’ve decided that some of my images are far too good to stay hidden away on a hard drive.
So taking adavantage of a few days off work due to the dreaded lurgy that I picked up overseas (Get down you Swine!)
I have decided to put some of them in a book using BLURB.
Not any old images and not any old book, it has a theme you see.
The book at the moment is titled ‘Full of Surprises’ and celebrates the centenary of Mount Surprise a little outpost in Far North Queensland.
It’s the town that time forgot, lets hope it stays that way.

Lead on

Lead on

After forty seven kilometres of driving on a very badly corrugated dirt track in 47 degree heat!

This sign was very welcome, so welcome that I even tried hugging the tree.

What a Trip!

In fact the picture was taken using an Olympus Trip, scanned then a  Lomo preset applied in Lightroom 2.

Petrol Station

Petrol Station

Lomonisity in the Australian Outback.

Murnpeowie Station in Far North South Australia.
A lone bowser stands like a sentry on guard duty at the back of the homestead.

Apparently the Strzelecki Track used to pass within spitting distance of the old homestead door?
I can’t say for sure, but what I do know is this.
The station receives it’s mail twice a week, that’s two round trips and a 1000km later.

I should know because I delivered it and what a fantastic experience it was too.

The mail must get through, and it does thanks to Land Rover reliability (he says with both fingers crossed behind his back)
