Ghost Town ?

Ghost Town ?

Latest Series of 8ight images and this weeks theme…

Early days of Digital  – Eight of 8ight

The Specials thought that Coventry was like living in a ghost town! So I’m not sure what they would make of this?

Anyway todays image is the last in the series of digital images shot on my very first digital camera, the Olympus C3000z.
Just to prove that it is still working nine years later this image was shot yesterday.

These days the camera is in demand for those interested in infra red photography. Apparently they are easily modified and there is even a WEBSITE with full instructions on how to modify them by replacing the infra red filter with a piece of glass. I have thought about doing it but haven’t got the heart.

A new series of 8ight begins tomorrow.

The punultimate photo in the early days of digital series.
Today’s image is the state emblem for South Australia,

‘The Sturt Desert Pea’

Yes, yes I know the leaves are usually green but with the aid of a Lightroom preset all I can see is red.

Early days of Digital  – Five of 8ight

The fifth of 8ight images in the early days of digital series. Eight images taken all those so many years ago with my first ever digital camera the Olympus C3000Z. It was the year 2000 the millenium bug was a non event. The world didn’t end and the Olympics came to Sydney. Happy times.
Living there for those two weeks was a joy to behold. People actually spoke to each other.

Early days of Digital  – One of 8ight

Sydney Opera House light show during the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

Digital photography has come a long way in the nine years I have been using the medium. But did I really pay nearly $2000 for my first digital camera back in the year 2000!

Anyway a new series of 8ight begins today, eight images taken all those years ago with my trusty old Olympus C3000z 3.3megapixel camera.

The camera still works okay but the Smart media cards that it uses are now obsolete. I can’t even download new images in Vista as there aren’t any drivers available. Good job then that I still have a laptop running XP.

But for the purpose of this series of 8ight I have been scouring my old hardrive and come up with eight original images.

To think that one of them was once used fullpage in the Overlander 4WD magazine. Who needs 12 mega pixels??
