Waiting for the Cowboy

Waiting for the Cowboy

Latest Series of 8ight images and this weeks theme…

Early days of Digital  – Four of 8ight

A series of eight images taken with the Olympus C3000Z my first digital camera. A far cry from the newly announced Olympus EP1 must have. Or is it?

When attending the movies in the outback, dust can play play havoc with your popcorn but at least you don’t have to put up with noisy patrons and mobile phones!!

Ford Falcon ?

Ford Falcon ?

I didn’t have to travel too far this morning for this relic image as my neighbour has quite a collection rusting away on his property.
Close up it reminds me of an owl or bird of prey so I will call this one a Ford Falcon. Aussie’s call them Chook Tins apparently.

Fal(con) = bird = chicken = chook.

Con =container = tin

Gettit? But then they also refer to sandwiches as “Sangers!” Sausages are Snags and… I think we will leave it there.

Ford Zephyr MKII

Ford Zephyr MKII

Someone’s old pride and joy but now long forgotten.
Amazingly the chrome on the front grill is still in good nick. If only I knew what the make and model is? I notice from my collection of images that there is an engine stamp under the bonnet so I guess that I will have to go back and find out.

That’s easy to say but this car is in a field of long Savannah grass! I thought I was brave enough stomping through with my camera yesterday! Because in the six weeks that we have been living up here, already we have seen more snakes than we did in the 3 years that we spent living in outback SA!

Okay I might be back

Yes I’m back, I managed to steer clear of the snakes in the grass (There’s a Bow Wow Wow lyric? somewhere)

The car it’s an Old Mark II Ford Zephyr the Vehicle ID plate is still in tact. Not only that the bonnet was flipped over it says Zephyr on it. Doh!

Welcome to my new blog 8ight Days a week.

Eight days a week “The Beatles”

Time goes real slow up here in FNQ It certainly feels as if they’ve slipped in an extra day somewhere?

The trouble is I really have too much time on my hands living up in the Savannah as we do here in far north Queensland. The English Nurse, well she has a job as a ‘RAN’ that’s remote area nurse by the way.

Living in a remote town 313 km from the nearest bookshop and decent newsagent just what is a bloke to do? Okay there’s the pub I guess. The dog needs walking, sure he does but I also need something else to occupy my mind as it is quite possible to go stir crazy!

I have a passion for writing and photography so to complement my home page POMGONEWALKABOUT and BLOG I have come up with a project to help keep me occupied and at the same time hopefully improve my photography.
A photo a day for eight days a week for the next fifty two weeks. Wow three hundred and sixty five days to go come rain or shine. Up here in the tropics during the wet season they tell me that there is plenty of rain!

So 852365

8 days of the week

52 weeks of the year

365 days for the next year

416 photographs of my choosing, whatever takes my fancy split into categories

I will split each week (that’s 8 days) if you hadn’t already forgotten into a category

I hereby declare 852365 open and to kick start the project off category number 1 will be Wrecks.
