Left in a field of forgotten dreams

Left in a field of forgotten dreams

The final image in this weeks 8ight  “GO WIDE” series.
All images taken with a Sigma 10-20mm lens.
The Ford Zephyr is the same car that kicked off this 8ight blog 96 images ago.

If it looks a little different that’s because a bush fire went through the paddock a few weeks back.
I have heard that the council are going to tidy up the place and remove the wreck to the dump.

Maybe I will have to rescue that chrome grill then as a memento to the past.
A time when dads religeously washed and polished their cars on a Sunday morning.

Ford, Vauxhall, Austin, Morris, Hillman, Rover, Triumph, Reliant Robin!

Maximum Exposure

Thank you for the socks

The punultimate photo in the GO WIDE series.

This one was taken on a Saturday afternoon in a Far North Queensland country town.
Those friendly people from Nik Software sure make it easy to make classic Black and White images.
I created this one using the Pinhole style that comes with the software.

I’m sure that with a bit more practice I’ll be a black and white master?

Looks like (Pre) Teen Spirit

Looks like (Pre) Teen Spirit

Wasn’t that a Nirvana song? I prefer Led Zep myself but then that’s just showing my age or good taste.

Objects a Pier closer

Objects a Pier closer

Another image from the Go-Wide series.

I’ve been playing around with a 15 day trial of a great piece of software called ‘Silver Efex Pro‘ by Nik Software. It’s a great plugin for Photoshop users, especially for those interested in reproducing classic black and white images from the film era with minimal effort.

Such a shame that the Aussie dollar has collapsed because what am I to do after the trial period ends?

Simple eat baked beans for a month (Heinz of course) and buy it? $200US = $332 AUD

Saturday arvo in Semaphore

Saturday arvo in Semaphore

This picture was taken on only our second day back in South Australia after returning from an 8 week winter holiday in the UK. Hard to think that it will soon be a year since we were there.

The brightness of the light and blue skies was so overwhelming compared to the drab grey skies of Blighty, that I have had to turn the image into monochrome.

Go Wide!

Lifes Entry

Lifes Entry

I was born across the road at number 39 in a terraced house that had an ‘Entry’ similar to this one.
It was 1960 and for that I will be ever thankful. No way would I want to be born in the mad, mad world of today and miss out on all that fun. Risk assessments, Fun police you gotta be kidding!

How many times my feet ran up that entry on those very same flagstones, I will never know.
My best mate lived there and together we discovered the world.
Along with 40 other fully paid up members of the ‘Baby Boomers’ Club. The ‘Recky’ was our playground, our world that is bounded by Judges street, Thomas Street, the canal and two railway lines.

Bill and Ben, Batman and Robin, Blue Peter, “Vals knickers” Black and White Television, Colour Television.  Raleigh Choppers, School, Football, Mumps, Measles, Chicken Pox. The DENTIST! Long Summer holidays, Bonfire Night, “Penny for the Guy, mister?” Girls, Prog Rock, “Soul is Trash” The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd. GCE O Level maths!
Aged 16, a job. Childhood over.

Now aged 48. What Happened? Where did the years go? Surely I don’t need a hip replacement yet!

Far far too much “Smoke on the Water” I might be going deaf in one ear.

Nikon D200, Sigma 10-20mm.

Taken @ 20mm, f5.6, 0.6 sec, ISO 200.  Hand held, good grief!

They serve the best Breakfast

They serve the best Breakfast

No I don’t have any affiliation with them it is just my humble opinion.

Saturday morning at the Adelaide Central markets is the best place for breakfast. The atmosphere is great and everything is made using fresh local produce.

Now remind me again why did we leave SA? Oh yes I remember !!!!!
