A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

It’s a family tradition well at least it is in our family household.

Each Christmas out comes that old sugar pig, except that in Australia, just like the Aussie cricketers with their Ashes, I too have a replica. A pig that is, not the Ashes for they are safely tucked up at Lords!

A plate of Shortbread biscuits and a cup of tea whilst opening the presents. The perfect Christmas especially if South Africa win the boxing day test!

Christmas – Seven of 8ight

Your Majesty I have taken a leaf out of your book and prepared this  post a few days in advance as I shall be out on Christmas day. The English nurse and myself have been invited to spend the day on a Cattle station which will be exciting.  The property is huge, infact it is larger than a few of the counties in your realm. Apparently the distance from the main road to the front door is like driving from Loughborough to Melton Mowbray.

So another year will soon draw to a close and if I may borrow one of your phrases ma’am? It has been a bit of an  ‘Annus Horribilis’ for myself and my fellow supporters of Leicester city. Relegated for the first time in the clubs history to League Division One. Now you can spin that all you like but it’s still Division 3.  Mind you things are looking up for the supporters and the team now that Mr. Mandaric has replaced that old blogger with Nigel Pearson as manager.

Mr. Pearson has worked wonders during  his short reign in charge having guided the team to the top of the league. I know that it is early days and we shouldn’t get too carried away as we don’t want to come down with the trimmings! But you never know once a few Premier League Championships are in the bag you might one day be kind in your New Year honours? As far as I know we have never had a sir at the club, but we’ve had a God.

“Arise Sir Nigel?” maybe not.

All I want for Christmas are 3 points!!

It’s Christmas Eve

Well this time last year I was walking around in a fleece, hat, scarfe and gloves. At times my finger almost froze to the shutter release! But it felt like Christmas.
This year, our first in Far North Queensland all I need is a pair of shorts and a T shirt. It’s 33 degrees outside and as humid as hell. The Ipod is playing Christmas songs for the umpteenth time.

“Let it snow Let it snow Let it snow.”

Christmas – Four of 8ight

So there I was at the dump yesterday getting rid of our rubbish as you do. It’s great living out here because there are no Council Refuse Police telling you what size bin you can have, when to put it out and how full it must be.

You just get in the truck, drive 3 kilometres and dump it into a large hole in the ground, the rubbish that is not the Land Rover!
I realise that there will be some smart Alecs out there asking
“What’s the difference?” Well Merry Christmas and up yours too!

The great thing is I don’t have to give out any Christmas boxes to the binmen, dustbinmen, Refuse Collectors, Refuse removal personnel or whatever name they go by these days.
I can keep them all to myself. In fact I’ve given myself a rather good gratuaty this yuletide for emptying the rubbish all year. I’ve got my eyes on a Nikon SB900 flashgun.

Anyway as I was saying, out at the dump yesterday I came across this old red bicycle, it looked sad and neglected. A present from yesterday, dumped to make way for the new.

So I nipped home grabbed my camera, a red bauble, a bit of tinsel and drove back out to the dump.

A touch of Silver Efex Pro and I present to you

“The Ghost of Christmas Presents Past.”

That’s the problem with eating all those mince pies, my waistline just balloons out of all proportion.

Hey Rudolph? From now on I’ll eat the carrots!

Christmas – Two of 8ight

Christmas. Supposedly we are celebrating the birth of little Jesus so just why we insist on hanging wreaths from our door is anyone’s guess?
Anyway if you’re stuck for ideas on what to get the Mother in Law this year? Why not kill two birds with one stone. Buy her a wreath and she can take it with her when she goes.

Only joking I’m getting mine a chair, but I bet she won’t plug it in.

Okay actually she’s getting M&S vouchers so she can treat herself to a new hat. I suggested a full veil, I think it’s called a Niqab?

In return she has sent me a framed picture of herself, I’ve  put it on the mantelpiece above the fire as it keeps the kids away.
